Data Export Policy
How data export works at SigningLedger and what is included.

Overview
You can export all of your data at any time from Settings → Export My Data. Exports are provided in JSON format and include all business records and their relationships.
Tax ID Protection
All data exports mask Tax IDs and EINs (showing only the last four digits, e.g., ***-**-1234) to protect sensitive information. This applies to all exports — there is no option to export unmasked Tax IDs. If your accountant needs full Tax IDs, enter them manually from your own records.
What Is Included
Exports include: • Business profile • Customers (with relationships to signings) • Vendors (with Tax IDs masked) • Appointments • Signings (with customer and vendor relationships) • Mileage logs • Expenses • Budgets • Tax estimates • Notification and reminder settings • Reminder logs File attachments (expense receipts) are stored as URLs. The export includes the URLs but not the files themselves. You can download attachments separately from the expense records.
Export Format
Exports are provided in JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) format. JSON is machine-readable and can be imported into other systems or converted to CSV with appropriate tooling. Entity IDs and foreign keys are preserved, allowing relationships to be reconstructed.
Audit Logging
All data exports are recorded in the audit log with the user's identity, timestamp, and export scope. This helps detect unauthorized data exfiltration.
Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for storing exported data securely. We recommend storing exports in encrypted, access-controlled locations. If you believe your export has been compromised, contact us immediately.
Data Portability
The JSON export format is designed to be portable. You can transform the data for import into accounting platforms (QuickBooks, Xero) or other business management systems with appropriate tooling. SigningLedger does not currently offer automated migration to other platforms.
